The Upland Unified School District Has hired a new assistant superintendent to oversee the district’s elementary schools following the recent addition of a new assistant superintendent for secondary education.
Upland resident Ellen Lugo, a longtime educator and administrator most recently with the Ontario-Montclair School District, has been named the Upland Unified School District’s Assistant superintendent for elementary education. She began her new position earlier this month.
“Our goal has been to dedicate administrators to oversee both the elementary and secondary schools, so that we are better able to give schools and students throughout the district the attention they deserve,” said UUSD Superintendent Dr. Nancy Kelly. “Previously the district had just one assistant superintendent in our educational services division.
This is a critical addition as we navigate through the early stages of the new Common Core State Standards, and Ellen has been at the forefront in helping the Ontario-Montclair School District Design and implement the new standards. We are very fortunate to welcome Ellen Lugo to the Upland Unified School District.”
“I am thrilled to join the Upland Unified team and look forward to exciting work ahead with the staff, students and families in our district,” said Lugo. “It is an honor to be working in the community I have lived in for 20 years and to be a team member in the district my own children attended.”
