The Criminalization of Abortion

Washington D.C. – In recent weeks and months conservative lead states have been in overdrive passing ever-more restrictive laws aimed at eliminating a woman’s right to choose—each succeeding measure out-doing the previous ones in terms of their draconian restrictions.

Abortion rates in the U.S. continue to decline having dropped at least 20 percent in the last decade. For many women and their supporters, having to fight in the 21st century to maintain control of their own bodies is a challenge they do not welcome but are compelled to meet. As the debate heats up and the case is propelled forward to the Supreme Court for ultimate determination in an attempt to undo the landmark decision of Roe v Wade, it is clear women nationwide are determined to not acquiesce to the Republican party’s patriarchal demands without an epic battle to defeat them on this issue.
