California is experiencing an outbreak of avian flu or bird flu (H5N1), as well as Norovirus and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), and the CDC recommends that people who must have direct or close contact with sick or dead wild birds, poultry or other animals, including dairy cows, wear recommended personal protective equipment (PPE).

A new variant, KP.3.1., of the Omicron family, is making its way across the U.S., now estimated to be the predominant variant by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
