This is a great time for sports fans! College and professional football games are back on TV screens, and playoff baseball and the start of hockey season are just around the corner. But if you’re a sports fan with an old, energy hog of a television set, it’s time for you to upgrade. And the good news is Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) will help.
RPU electric customers can now receive $150 back on their purchase of a qualifying energy efficient Energy Star-rated flat panel TV (LED or Plasma), sized 39 inches and above. Energy Star certified televisions are much more efficient than older units, and save energy when they are on and off. In fact, if all of the TVs sold in the United States were certified models, more than 15 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions would be offset each year.
A public benefit program open to RPU electric customers only, both residential and commercial customers are eligible for this program. Some restrictions apply, and applications must be received no later than 90 days after purchase.
