SAN BERNARDINO – As part of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, San Bernardino County District Attorney Michael Ramos launched a 4-minute video in an effort to better assist child witnesses before they testify in court.
The video—entitled “My Day in Court”—will be shown to all potential child witnesses in San Bernardino County who are required to testify in court. The video presents an overview of each of the key courtroom players.
“Sometimes just being in the physical courtroom itself can be stressful for kids. And then when you factor in the content of what they may have to discuss in their testimony, overall, it can be traumatic experience,” District Attorney Ramos said. “The main goal of this video is to greatly reduce the understandable fears that a child has about entering the courtroom.”
