YUCAIPA – Approximately 500 students will walk during the 2013 Crafton Hills College (CHC) Commencement to be held in the Campus Quad on Thursday, May 23, beginning at 6 p.m. During the commencement celebration, approximately 600 degrees and certificates will be have been earned and handed out for the fall 2012 and spring 2013 semesters. This community celebration is open to the public and parking is free on campus that evening. The event should conclude by 7:30 p.m.

Festivities begin with a Graduation Breakfast in the cafeteria served by faculty, staff and administrators on Thursday morning, immediately following the graduation rehearsal which begins at 8:30 a.m.

Commencement is the culmination of a busy month of events that includes the Student Recognition Dinner (May 3), the EOPS Graduation and Scholars Ceremony (May 10), the Scholars Convocation (May 16), the Transfer Recognition Celebration (May 17), and the EMT Graduation (May 22), all of which follow the Fire Academy Graduation that was held on April 18.

Commencement is a ceremony that recognizes certificate and degree earners alike. Students may be awarded an associate’s degree or a certificate. Students who are “graduating with honors” have a cumulative GPA of 3.50-3.99 at the end of the term in which they have applied for graduation. Those “graduating with highest honors” have a cumulative GPA of 4.0 at the end of the term in which they have applied for graduation.
