In an inaugural evening rooted in legacy and purpose, the Phi Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., hosted its Golden Renaissance Scholarship Gala at The Mission Inn in Riverside. The event brought together community leaders, scholars, artists and educators for a Harlem Nights-inspired celebration of scholarship, service, and Black excellence.
Founded on December 4, 1906, Alpha Phi Alpha is the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African American men – and the Phi Upsilon Chapter, chartered just over a year ago on January 16, 2024, carries that legacy forward as the first Black Greek-lettered organization recognized on the University of La Verne’s campus. This gala marked a milestone: a commitment to investing in future generations through the celebration of achievement, spoken word, music, and community.
