The Western Riverside County Programs and Projects Committee has recommended moving forward with the addition of a westbound lane to the 92 freeway from Green River to the 241toll road. The added lane is expected to reduce drive time by about 15 minutes. The project is expected to cost about $36.2 million. It is expected to begin construction in 2020 and be completed by fall, 2021.
Although the subcommittee approved the 91-freeway lane expansion it disapproved of the idea that called for turning off the meters at the Green River Road ramp. An experiment showed that although it reduced driving time for some morning commuters by about 5 to 10 minutes, it actually created more delay than it saved.
