Close to 1,000 community members joined the Chabad Jewish Community Center and Riverside’s Jewish community for the 10th Annual Chanukah Celebration held annually on the steps of the historic court house. The event gives the wider community an opportunity to learn more about Jewish culture and the meaning of Chanukah.
Before lighting one of the Inland Empire’s largest outdoor Menorahs with the assistance of Mayor Rusty Bailey, Rabbi Shmuel Fuss explained the meaning of the annual tradition, as well as the symbolism of lighting the Menorah candles for eight nights during Chanukah. The ritual, he said, reminds us to take what you have and light up another.
The annual festival promotes the spirit of family, community, and Jewish tradition.
