As a State Senator, Senator Roth’s role and priorities is to represent 931,349 people who reside in Senate District 31. As you know, Perris is one of the cities in the Senate District which also includes portions of unincorporated Riverside County, March Air Reserve Base and (in addition to Perris), the cities of Riverside, Moreno Valley, Corona, Norco, Eastvale and Jurupa Valley.
The Senator respects local control specific to each community he serves. He works with the elected City Councilmembers, as well as elected school board members, special districts and the Supervisors of Riverside County to achieve the goals they are setting and working for with their communities.
The Senator works on state issues that affect the district and specific communities. Senator Roth’s Priorities include fully representing and supporting the people of the 31st Senate District. Senator Roth believes that for a long time, our region has not received its fair share of state resources, and programs. The Senator has said Inland Southern California is the fastest growing region in the state and is helping drive the state’s economic recovery and he is here to be a strong voice for the residents of the 31st Senate District and to make government work for our taxpayers.
Other priorities include:
Full funding for the Medical School at UC Riverside, which is critical to serving Inland Southern California’s severely underserved needs for basic medical care. Senator Roth believes the UCR Medical School will help meet California’s growing doctor shortage and the increased demand for Doctors and healthcare providers increases with the implementation of the national Affordable Care Act.
Senator Roth has also said the UCR Medical School is a critical catalyst for new economic growth for Riverside and Inland Southern California that will attract new biomedical research and development. He believes the medical school will grow healthcare employment at all levels – from GED’s to MD’s.
A critical priority of Senator Roth’s is service to our veterans.
Senator Roth said California Veterans have served their nation and our state with pride and distinguished service. Unemployment for veterans in California and Inland Southern California is a major issue in California. Unemployed veterans want to be active in our community and our workforce and Senator Roth said he believes our veterans have a right to a job. Senator Roth is working to easily connect veterans with services they need and make sure those services meet their needs
Another priority of Senator Roth’s is government accountability. Senator Roth has said that government needs to be accountable to the people. To Senator Roth, that means government should do the right thing and we should always let people know what we are doing with their money. He also said without accountability and transparency, we lose the faith and trust of California taxpayers is eroded.
