Riverside – Last week, Riverside Mayor Rusty Bailey was recognized as 2013 Alumnus of the Year by UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs.
Following his graduation from West Point as an Army helicopter pilot with a degree in political science in 1994 Bailey went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from UCLA in 1999.  He was elected Riverside’s new Mayor in November 2012.
“I am truly humbled and grateful to have received this year’s award” said Mayor Bailey.  “….the program played an important role in forming my leadership philosophy – to lead by example.”
Founded in 1994, the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs incorporates best practices in scholarship, research and teaching in the fields of social work, urban and regional planning, and policymaking.   There are 6,935 alumni of the School.
