“You’re fired!”

Washington D.C.

Former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates

A memo released by the White House Press Office late Monday read in part that the nation’s Acting Attorney General Sally Yates “has betrayed the Department of Justice by refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the United States.” The memo further defined Yates as, “weak on borders and very weak on illegal immigration.” The memo confirmed Yates was fired by President Trump for defying his immigration ban.

Earlier in the day Yates told Justice Department lawyers not to defend the immigration ban in court. Yates also expressed her belief that not defending the order was consistent with what she identified as the Justice Department’s, “solemn obligation to always seek justice and stand for what is right.” Yates was an Obama Administration appointee.
