Lake Elsinore, CA
Temescal Canyon High School was placed on emergency lock-down Friday morning, September 1, at approximately 9:45am in response to what officials called a “suspicious telephone call.” To date, the nature of that call has not been disclosed. As word of the lockdown spread, including rumors of a possible shooter on campus, several parents have arrived at the school to pick up their children. Officials, however, would not allow students to leave during the lockdown.
Regardless of the details of the call, the school was placed on lockdown for the safety of the students and staff. According to officials, school resource officers, Lake Elsinore Police and Sheriff’s officers, members of the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau, a Sheriff’s helicopter, and officers from surrounding agencies conducted an “exhaustive search” of the campus and the surrounding area, but were unable to identify any threat to the campus. The lockdown was lifted around 12:30pm.
