Riverside – A recent Gallup poll questioned teachers on what they believe should be done to prevent school shootings in America. In response, 33 percent noted stricter gun laws, 22 percent called for a ban on assault weapons or other types of guns, and 10 percent called for stricter background checks for gun purchases. In addition, about 20 percent of the teachers mentioned the need for better funding for mental health services, 15 percent called for improved school security and another 6 percent mentioned the need for additional mental health resources in schools.
