Some California doctors hesitant to prescribe lethal drugs

A special report by CBS News recently revealed that a number of California doctors, including those that serve at Catholic hospitals are not willing to play a role in intentionally ending a life. A new right-to-die law that became effective June 9, made it legal for doctors, under stringent guidelines, to prescribe life-ending drugs for terminally ill patients. California has joined four other states that have already implemented such legislation; however, California has established more safeguards to guide the process than any of the other states.
