The literature defines “Nuance” (1781, a shade of expression) as a fine or subtle variation, as in color, tone, or meaning—a gradation. Yet, in extensive literature I reviewed, there is silence on the “what it is” or “how it does what it does”. This is significant because at least 25% of a human’s choices, decisions, and solutions are the result of nuances. Nuances are about dynamic Undertones/Overtones but differ from their “cousins” called Background/Foreground and Top/Bottom since both have almost invariable and thus unnatural natures. By contrast, Nuances wiggle, as do all naturally occurring Things. Understanding the Mystery of Nuances requires shifting from Human-Made Patterns of Thinking (e.g. in Linear fashion, which is one-dimensional)over to Processes inside the Flowing Patterns that conform to Laws of Nature. The “big picture” is that Reality is composed of multiple variables, each on different Planes of activity, but occupyingthe same space. Also, everything in each Plane of the Cosmos is happening at once (which makes them non-linear). This means there are innumerable variables in the atmosphere surrounding a person. Ones brain handles millions of these variables without the brain being conscious of more than three at any given time. An analogy is the many musical notes in a certain degree of vibration of the air occupy the same position in a "State" space. Yet, they do not conflict with each other in so far as space-filling qualities are concerned. One can hear them because they are made of vibratory energy, not matter. Despite the axiom of Physics that no two bodies of matter can occupy the same space at the same time, on other planes, the Laws of Nature differ. One is a Thing in motion is natural among wiggly others at rest—and none are Linear (i.e. not straight). In this "State" ('way of standing, condition, position') of vibratory energy, besides each variable wiggly wave-like entity, each possesses different dimensions and vibration rates. By all occupying the same space at any Cosmic point, one plane is within the other. In other words, every plane manifests in the same point of space at the same time. Note the Principle of “Sameness” from being composed of vibrations and yet each is “Unique” via its different vibratory rate. Each Entity is an independent worker that interdependently works harmoniously to maintain a “seemingly” normal whole–and yet all are nuances in constant change.

“Sameness/Uniqueness” + the Independent being Interdependent are Cosmic Wholism features features accounting for Nuance changes in a Cosmos which apparently remains the same. Nature’s Processes embrace the independent workings of each pair of its Complementary Natural Opposites—e.g. heat/cold, light/dark, black/white, and dull/sharp. Each pair is varying degrees of the “same thing,”  as in “heat” and “cold”. They imply one Form with a variety of appearances + unique differing rates of vibration + varying degrees of interrelationships between the two poles of one “spoke”—i.e. changing but remaining the same. Since Heat is the energy of motion of molecules, when a substance is heated, its molecules all begin to move faster. This motion of molecules is a vibration in which each molecule wiggles backward and forward extremely fast. At the same time, it moves (if at all) only comparatively slowly from one locality to another. In heating ice, the single molecules escape, as liquid water flows away.  Thus, one cannot distinguish where “heat” stops and “cold” begins because “the extremes meet” (The Kybalion p. 32). An example of a living Nuance in action is the Butterfly’s four life cycle stages.

Each independent activity is a tiny, multiple, ongoing series of changes. When each independent thing is accumulated, their harmonious meshing is in a completely new form. Also, Nuances are like knocking down an old house and building a slightly new styled one out of its old material. The Metamorphosis (changing forms) four stages are: egg, larva (caterpillar), pupa, and adult. A grown, transforming ‘worm’ caterpillar slowly spins a silk button–a soft nest cocoon—around itself + hooking itself to the button + hooking the button to a tree + shedding its grub skin. Different continuous series of tiny changes are each nuanced happenings which, together, make it a pupa. The pupa then stops moving or eating as nuanced inner independent activities interdependently work toward the transformation. With completion of growth, it emits a liquid to loosen the shell. The emerging beautiful butterfly, in a new form, goes off on a different course, with different requirements, to do a different purpose. These are the same features and consequences of a dynamic Nuance. jabaileymd.com
