Inland Area Brush Fire

Redlands, CA

Around 4:00 p.m. Sunday, evacuation orders were lifted for several neighborhoods in the Redlands-Beaumont area. What was identified as the Palmer Fire erupted around 1:30 Saturday afternoon just west of Beaumont, near San Timoteo Canyon Road and Fisherman’s Retreat. The fire spread rapidly. Nearly 450 residents were ordered to evacuate from the area along Live Oak Canyon Road between San Timoteo Canyon Road and Interstate 10. More than 400 firefighters, with the assistance of air tankers, battled the blaze. According to Cal Fire investigators, the fire was caused by fireworks; however, it remains unclear as to whether there are any suspects in the case.
