We believe there is a real nobility to the mission of community newspapers, and we are deeply passionate about the work we do for you every week of the year. We believe in our role of informing and educating the public, in creating a forum for engagement, and serving as the institutional memory of this community. We remember the past and use it to help inform the present and prepare for the future.

We are proud of our accomplishments in 2014. For the first time we were winners of several California Newspaper Publishers Association Better Newspaper Awards, we placed second in Best Front Page and Best Column and received honorable mentions for Best Artistic Photo, Best Local Reporting, and General Excellence. We also placed second for Best Opinion and Best Column in the National Newspaper Publishers Association annual awards competition.

With a focus on our growth through digital platforms and social media, we have added My VOICE Rants & Raves, a weekly blog highlighting important Inland Empire events, issues and individuals, and Cityscapes, a new bi-monthly digital magazine focusing on civic issues in cities throughout the state of California. Our focus on digital and social media has also allowed us to expand our reach. Our two websites reach a combined total of 55,000 unique visitors per month and 13 million page views, illustrating just how engaged our readers are once they visit our websites. We now distribute content twice a week to a list of 4,441. Our combined number of social media followers is close to 6,000.

Some of our best ideas for engagement and expansion in 2015 have come from you, our loyal readers. As we continue to build a multi-platform newspaper, look for new additions to the Brown Publishing & Communications family of properties including a weekly podcast, a book club, and projects like Fatherhood 365, a campaign to promote the important role fathers play in the lives of their children and families and a new project documenting our vibrant senior community here in the Inland Empire. All suggestions from readers like you.

Thank you again for your support in 2014. We wish you a healthy, transformative, and engaging 2015.

“ME/WE” is an: "All for One, One for all" concept of African Zulus, called Ubuntu. The Nguni Bantu define it as connection of all “Humanity”—meaning its “Sameness” creation is the Cosmic Force. They translate it as: “I am because we are”; or “Humanity towards others”...
