swimming_divingAfter another great experience and nearly $500,000 in positive economic impact to the community, the Riverside Sports Commission announced the return of CIF for the 2015 Southern Section – Ford Swimming and Diving Championships. All competition will be conducted at the Riverside Aquatics Complex on the campus of Riverside City College. Assistant Commissioner for CIF-SS, Kristine Palle, recognizes the Riverside facility as “one of the most state of the art facilities in the country with the ability to accommodate more qualifiers and finalists”. She added “We accept 36 qualifiers into the preliminary events with the top 18 returning for consolation and final heats of 9 each”. CIF-SS will award points for the top 18 swimmers and divers.

The competition is the culmination of the high school swimming and diving season throughout southern California including Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Mono, Inyo, and a portion of Kern county, and will showcase the “best-of-the-best” swimmers and divers in the region. The 2015 Championships are expected to include teams from over 400 high schools and 2000 competitors for a series of preliminary and final events which began this past Monday and concludes on Saturday, May 16.

“We are excited for this opportunity to bring more athletes to preliminaries and finals, having swimming and diving conducted together in the true spirit of these bound entities and being welcomed in this awesome facility. We couldn’t ask for anything more for our athletes” said Palle.

Athletes and coaches will be admitted to all sessions an hour and a half prior to competition. Spectators will be admitted a half hour prior to competition.
