Ancient Africans’ Alchemy focus was on arriving at the mastery of Mental Forces to enable insights for paths to reach the Heaven Afterlife. They spotlighted the Melanin black complexion of Asar (Osiris) as symbolizing the unmanifest Deity in the profound Darkness of Potentiality. In the black body of the dead Asar, Ancient Africans visioned an Archetypal (primal, essential "Seed") Human Pattern. The keystone of this Divine Alchemy was to learn how to use Heavenly Energy to transmute (change from one form, nature, state into another + into each other) the black Earth of Ignorance into the gold of Wisdom. The process was, by “Knowing Thyself,” to involute—i.e. unfold back to the center of the Sublime realm’s foundational Cosmic Laws to thereby return to each human’s pre-birth “First Wisdom” state. Following that unfolding, they could evolute (ascend outward like rays of the Sun) Spiritual Meanings which naturally manifest the involuted “Seeds” and their associated powers so as to learn principles of how the Lower Nature (Earth) gives birth to the Higher Nature (metaphorically called Gold). Cosmic Principles realized were that all of Nature’s decomposition is re-composition; Death is transmutation, as in changing of bodies into light and light into bodies; nothing is ever finished; and nothing is ever isolated because it has reference to something else. Thus, each Cosmic Entity achieves meaning apart from that which neighbors it. Out of these Laws governing human Spiritual Evolution arose the strictest Harmony of African Tradition’s beautiful Spiritual Philosophy. Its “Philosopher’s Stone” concept implies the perfect and incorrupt God Substance—or “Noble Tincture”—and never to be found upon the imperfect Earth in its natural state. Still, its power was capable of purging all baser Mental Activities (or baser metals) of dross and turning them into the Spiritual Elements flow (pure gold). So, African Alchemists’ Art was to complete work of Perfection.

Just prior to being borrowed outside of Africa, the Art of Hermetic (Tehuti) Alchemy dealt with mastery of Mental Forces by means of Transmutations of one kind of mental Vibrations into others. “The Art’s” spread to China and India led to curiosity in finding out how to change ordinary rocks and minerals into precious metals. The greedy Greeks and Europeans transformed African’s metaphoric descriptions of this being about gold and silver into “Fact”—similar to metaphoric stories they had copied out of the Ancient African Bible. Resultant European academic turbulence—later leading to world-wide misinformation, scams, and shams–occurred in the Christian era’s early centuries when Greeks of Alexandria, Egypt pursued alchemic practices from a Material Elements aspect. For example, in the process of trying to transmute actual base metals into noble ones they believed they needed an imaginary modified substance—also called the Philosopher’s Stone—because of its supposed linkage with the theories of Matter advanced by Ancient Egyptian philosophers. Their “Hermetically Sealed” concept consisted of placing “Mystical Metals” in mystical enclosures in hopes heightened forces would lead them into strange metamorphoses and transmutations. This was symbolical of Soul transfiguration beliefs under tutelage of their Supernatural god (Campbell, Hero p73). Note the switch from the Spiritual Cosmos whereby Truth is established by what is observable over to a Supernatural fantasy claimed to be unnatural, unconquerable, unmovable, undeniable, unexplainable, incomparable, unimaginable, immeasurable, and unthinkable. These beliefs make it impossible to have any kind of Truth/Wisdom.

In Medieval times, the Philosopher’s Stone—also called the “Power of Projection”—was the Magnum Opus (masterpiece) of Alchemists—meaning an object to be attained by them at all costs. Again borrowing and grossly modifying African Intellectual Property, it was an imagined stone said to consist of a powder or liquor formed of diverse metals, infused under a favorable constellation of the Stars. It was reputed not only to have the property of transmuting the baser metals into gold but also to possess the power of prolonging life indefinitely and curing most of the ills to which the body is heir–for through its agency could be distilled the “elixir of life.” The “Elixir” (Arabic, “powder”; Greek root for “dry”) was deemed a drug, essence, or tincture and applied to any alleged panacea or “cure-all.” Later, it became synonymous with Elixir Vitae. This was the setting that opened doors for Quacks to rush in with “Sham/Scam” analysis of all sorts of things + solutions for people’s personal problems.
