9th Annual Red Dress Fashion Show & Health Expo

Riverside – On Saturday, February 24, 2018, the Riverside Community Hospital’s HeartCare Institute held their 9th Annual Red Dress Fashion Show and Health Expo at the Riverside Convention Center. 

With February being Heart Awareness month, the event included presentations from board certified physicians of Riverside Community Hospital. 

The beautiful women and men who participated as models, showed off fashionable wardrobes and accessories from local Riverside boutiques and shops. 

Cherie Crutcher, Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Communications of the Riverside Community Hospital, was excited to share information about the humble beginnings of the Red Dress Fashion Show event. 

The event, which hosted approximately 250 people during its first run, has grown substantially since its inception. It now attracts over 1,000 women and men in the Inland Empire and has become a coveted event to attend each year. 

Medical professionals Priya Kunaseelan, MD of the Raincross Medical Group; Lama Al- Khoury, MD of Neurology at the UCR School of Medicine, UCR Health; Syed Bokhari, MD, Interventional Cardiologist, and Natalie Niekro of the Joe Niekro Foundation/RCH Stroke Support Group, all made presentations during the event and provided impactful information regarding the cardiovascular health of women. 

They discussed the damaging impact of heart disease, hypertension, stroke and obesity in the community and provided treatment and prevention tools to help combat these detrimental ailments that destroy lives and families across the nation.

The event ended with the much-anticipated Red Dress Fashion Show. Retailers included T. Elliott Design Studio, Mrs. Tiggy Winkles, Formal Image, Cruz Custom Tailors, Pink Ribbon Thrift, Riverside Art Museum, Vanity Haus, Carlisle Collection, and Ever Pretty. 

Hair stylists from the Riverside City College School of Cosmetology helped style the look of each model, while celebrity makeup artist Edgar Santos, polished the appearance of the models with stunningly gorgeous makeup. Santos has been in the Hollywood mainstream for almost four decades and has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry and around the globe. 

Next year’s event is expected to be even bigger and better and VOICE News will be there to cover all of the action.
