San Bernardino

The California Department of Public Health has awarded more than $2.5 million in grant funding over five years to support the San Bernardino Department of Public Health’s countywide immunization program. According to the county’s Public Health Director, Trudy Raymundo, “Vaccine preventable diseases continue to pose a threat to County residents.” Funding from the grant will support the county’s ability to reduce and potentially eliminate illness, disability, and death due to vaccine preventable diseases by improving the county’s immunization coverage rates.

The County Department of Public Health is responsible for efforts related to prevention, surveillance, quality assurance, and outbreak control for vaccine preventable diseases such as measles, pertussis, meningococcal disease, hepatitis, and varicella.
